*Title: ℓ-adic étale cohomology of Shimura varieties

The cohomology of Shimura varieties plays a very important role in number theory, providing a bridge between Galois representations and automorphic representations.
In my recent joint work with Paul Hamacher, we explored the geometry of mod p reduction of Shimura varieties to obtain the generalisation of a well-known result on the cohomology of Shimura varieties (namely, Mantovan’s formula for Hodge-type Shimura varieties).

Before discussing our result for more general Shimura varieties, I will use most part of the talk to illustrate the statement of the main results in the simplest case of modular curves (although our main result was already known in this case). If time permits, we will discuss some future directions.
