1st ILJU School of Mathematics

Pohang Mathematics Institute (PMI) in Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Korea organizes
ILJU School of Mathematics (a summer school on functional analysis) during August 19-24, 2009,
which is funded by the ILJU Academic and Cultural Research Foundation.
This school is held on the Yong Pyong resort in Pyeongchang,
where Korea applied for the Winter Olympic Games Site last two times.

¡°ILJU Academic and cultural Research Foundation¡± was built on July 19, 1990 by Mr. Lee, Eam-Yong (1921~1996), also known as Ilju, the first chairman of Taekwang Industrial Co.,Ltd. Since its foundation, it has steadily provided scholarships and research fund to various educational institutions, researchers and students. Its whole business volume reaches KRW 28.9 billion and it is managing Archives and ¡°Ilju Art¡± for culture development in Korea.

The aim of ILJU School is to introduce recent research problems on functional analysis including basic materials
so that graduate students and post-doctoral fellows are encouraged to solve them
and also to increase communication and friendship between participants.
